Apicoectomy (root-end resection)

It can happen that inflammation or a cyst develops at the root tip of a tooth. Before the procedure, root canal treatment has usually already been carried out, but in certain cases this proves insufficient. If the inflammation cannot be controlled, or precise root canal treatment is not possible due to the curvature of the tooth root, then an oral surgery procedure offers the opportunity to remove the problematic root tip, that is, to perform an apicoectomy (root-end resection).
